Affiliated Veterinary Specialists & Pet Emergency Treatment Service (P.E.T.S.) These two veterinary practices serve Brentwood, Nashville, and all of Middle Tennessee with state of the art medical and surgical services for pets (dogs and cats only). Doctor Samuel L. Beckman was the first veterinary surgery specialist in private practice in TN when he opened his practice in 1988. He was awarded a faculty position at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in the department of Orthopaedics in 1991, a position he still holds. Dr. Beckman is the only veterinarian in middle Tennessee who is board certified by the American College of Veterinary Surgeons (diplomate ACVS).
