The Blue Heron Lake Nature Conservancy is a private, non-profit corporation (tax-exempt status is in progress). It was created in order to achieve the following goals (in hierarchical order). To establish and maintain in perpetuity a nature preserve which will preserve and protect the lake, wetlands, and woodlands ecology and provide a sanctuary for endangered species and other wildlife, both indigenous and migratory; provide an outdoor classroom educational resource for environmental education and an ecological research area of educational and scientific value; provide quiet, reflective recreation and respite activities.
