The Center for Financial Training is the largest industry-sponsored adult education program in the world, benefiting over 200,000 bankers who enroll in CFT's educational programs each year. The origin of the Center for Financial Training dates to 1899 when Joseph Chapman, a note teller at the Northwestern Bank in Minneapolis, arranged a course in commercial law for a small group of bank clerks. This early class was the first step in a growing educational movement that led to the establishment of the American Institute of Bank Clerks (CFTC) in 1901. The name was changed to the Center for Financial Training in 1907.
