The Avery Coonley School is an independent, not-for-profit, non-denominational day school enrolling 362 bright and academically gifted boys and girls, Junior Kindergarten through Eighth Grade, with an Early Childhood Program serving three-year olds. The school was founded in 1906 by Mrs. Avery Coonley, whose views were inspired by the educational philosophy of John Dewey and other progressive educators. It is located on 11 acres in Downers Grove, Illinois adjacent to the Maple Grove Forest Preserve. ACS students are enthusiastic and have a real love of learning.
